PREVIEWS JD CYMRU NORTH

The action begins on Friday night when next-to-bottom Llanidloes Town entertain Gresford Athletic.

The Daffs will be anxious to bounce back after last weekend’s 6-1 defeat at Llandudno, while the Colliers also need a pick-me-up after going down 3-1 at home to Bangor 1876 seven days ago.

Either a draw or a narrow away win for Gresford is the pick here.

Saturday’s undoubted match of the day brings together third versus second as Holywell Town host Flint Town United.

Holywell have won seven on the bounce, but will be hard-pressed to make it eight against a Flint outfit beaten just once in the league all season.

However, Johnny Haseldin’s side have also lost just the one in the league, and that was to table-toppers Airbus, also Flint’s sole conquerors this term.

Back in September, the Silkmen were held 1-1 by the Wellmen at the Essity Stadium and a draw may well be the outcome in the return.

The top three in the Cymru North are separated by just two points, so a share of the spoils at Holywell would suit leaders Airbus perfectly.

The Wingmakers are home to a Prestatyn Town outfit still bedding in a fresh squad of players, and Mark Allen’s men should claim the win.

Bangor 1876’s fine recent form can see them in good stead at home to Caersws – three points to Michael Johnston’s team is the call, but it should be a close one.

Buckley Town’s resurgence involving three straight victories will put them in fine heart for the visit of Denbigh Town.

This fixture revives memories of a goal-fest between the pair earlier this season which ended 6-5 to Denbigh Town at Central Park. Can Bucks gain revenge? Do not put it past them.

Bottom side Chirk will find it tough to prevent Saturday’s visitors Ruthin Town taking maximum spoils, Guilsfield can bag a point at home to Mold Alexandra, who were stunned at home by Buckley last weekend, while Porthmadog versus Llandudno might produce a few goals.

SCORECASTS

Llanidloes Town 1 Gresford Athletic 2

Holywell Town 1 Flint Town United 1
Airbus UK Broughton 4 Prestatyn Town 1
Bangor 1876 2 Caersws 1
Buckley Town 3 Denbigh Town 2
Chirk AAA 0 Ruthin Town 2
Guilsfield 1 Mold Alexandra 1
Porthmadog 2 Llandudno 3

ARDAL NORTH EAST

After stopping the rot with an impressive win at Llangollen last weekend, Llansantffraid Village could prosper again on Friday night at home to Llanuwchllyn, who have just suffered their first league loss of 2023-24.

Bow Street should have what it takes to edge a home victory over Penycae, while Cefn Albion can hit back from a disappointing home loss to Penrhyncoch last time out when they host Llanfair United.

After being surprisingly held 1-1 at bottom side Welshpool in their last outing, Dolgellau Athletic will need to improve when they welcome Llandrindod Wells, unbeaten in 10 league matches and up to third. Draw looks favourite.

Llanrhaeadr entertain Builth Wells in a match between two sides perhaps surprisingly in the bottom three. We take the Bulls to edge the honours.

Leaders Penrhyncoch should have too much for Llangollen, and the same is true of second-place Radnor Valley as they host basement boys Welshpool, although the Lilywhites will be encouraged by grabbing a great point off Dolgellau in their last encounter.

SCORECASTS

Llansantffraid Village 2 Llanuwchllyn 1

Bow Street 3 Penycae 1
Cefn Albion 4 Llanfair United 1
Dolgellau Athletic 2 Llandrindod Wells 2
Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant 2 Builth Wells 3
Penrhyncoch 3 Llangollen Town 0
Radnor Valley 3 Welshpool Town 1
ARDAL NORTH WEST

CPD Y Rhyl 1879 can – temporarily at least – move 12 points clear at the summit if they triumph at Conwy Borough on Friday night.

Boro have lost five on the bounce in the league and would really need to reverse the form book dramatically to upset the Lilywhites.

Flint Mountain, whose cup conquests have caused them a league fixtures backlog, will have three points in their sights at home to a much-improved Bethesda on Saturday.

Holyhead Hotspur versus on-form Pwllheli is a potential cracker. Pwll have won five in a row, but Hotspur are strong at home and will be out for revenge having been pipped 2-1 at The Rec on January 6.

Llanrwst United against Llangefni Town has the look of a draw, while the ever-impressive Llay Welfare should outscore visitors Llannefydd, whose league results are nowhere near as good as their cup exploits.

Nantlle Vale, 11 points behind Rhyl 1879 but with three games in hand, will go all out for victory at home to Hawarden Rangers, who lifted themselves off the basement by beating Llannefydd last weekend and will be eyeing up another big upset at Maes Dulyn.

St Asaph City should return to winning ways at Saltney Town, while CPD Y Felinheli are capable of taking a point against Brickfield Rangers at Cae Seilo

.SCORECASTS

Conwy Borough 0 CPD Y Rhyl 1879 3

Flint Mountain 3 Bethesda Athletic 1
Holyhead Hotspur 1 Pwllheli 0
Llanrwst United 2 Llangefni Town 2
Llay Welfare 3 Llannefydd 1

Nantlle Vale 2 Hawarden Rangers 0
Saltney Town 1 St Asaph City 3
Y Felinheli 1 Brickfield Rangers 1
