PREVIEWS JD CYMRU NORTH

Hot on the heels of celebrating a great relegation escape, Llandudno have a chance to add some silverware to the party this weekend.

The Seasiders will meet Mold Alexandra in the northern final of the Welsh Blood Service League Cup on Saturday evening at Denbigh Town’s Central Park.

Despite a drop-off in league form since February, Mold are virtually assured of fourth place in the Cymru North and have beaten Tudno home and away this season.

Llandudno lost their first five league games, but recovered sufficiently to guarantee Cymru North football at the OPS Wind Arena next season after Llanidloes Town’s relegation last weekend.

And Tudno marked their survival in style with a brilliant 3-0 victory at Bangor 1876 on Easter Monday.

Saturday’s final could be a close one, but with Llandudno ending the season on a major high this just could be their day.

SCORECAST

Llandudno 2 Mold Alexandrs 1

Meanwhile, in league action on Saturday, Holywell Town can regain top spot and take a big step towards the title with a win at Ruthin.

Under new manager Dave Evans, Ruthin have recorded three victories in succession, but the Wellmen are on a 14-match winning run and should shade it at the Memorial Playing Fields.

Flint Town United should keep their title aspirations alive with three points at Prestatyn Town, while a resurgent Buckley Town can edge a tight verdict over Gresford Athletic.

Expect Denbigh Town to claim the honours at Llanidloes Town and Bangor 1876 look good for a point at tricky Guilsfield.

SCORECASTS

Buckley Town 1 Gresford Athletic 0

Guilsfield 2 Bangor 1876 2

Llanidloes Town 1 Denbigh Town 3

Prestatyn Town 0 Flint Town United 3

Ruthin Town 1 Holywell Town 2

ARDAL NORTHERN

Something has to give when two bang in-form teams meet as Holyhead Hotspur take on Bow Street in the Ardal North League Cup semi-finals at the New Stadium on Saturday.

With home advantage, and considering they are on an amazing streak of 12 matches without loss, Hotspur should win the day.

In the other semi, Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant could struggle against Ardal North West title contenders Flint Mountain

SCORECASTS

Holyhead Hotspur 2 Bow Street 1 (aet)

Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant 1 Flint Mountain 4

Friday night action in Ardal North East brings two teams not in the best of nick into opposition when Llanfair United entertain Llansantffraid Village.

Lowly Llanfair are coming off a demoralising 11-2 defeat at Llanuwchllyn and are likely to finish second best to Saints, who are four places above them in the table.

On Saturday, a Cefn Albion outfit boosted by a great win over Radnor Valley last weekend, can follow up with a home success verssus Builth Wells.

Radnor will look to hit back after last weekend’s loss sent them down to third, but they might be hard-pressed to get a result at Llandrindod Wells, who nonetheless have not played in a month.

Llangollen Town can edge past Penycae at Tower Fields, while three big points are on offer when Penrhyncoch visit Rhos Aelwyd.

Although the form book favours Penrhyn, Rhos are one of those teams who can upset anyone on their day. However, we expect an away triumph.

Red-hot Llanuwchllyn should register another big score at home to winless bottom outfit Welshpool Town.

SCORECASTS

Llanfair United 0 Llansantffraid Village 2

Cefn Albion 2 Builth Wells 1

Llandrindod Wells 2 Radnor Valley 1

Llangollen Town 1 Penycae 0

Llanuwchllyn 7 Welshpool Town 0

CPD Rhos Aelwyd 1 Penrhyncoch 2

Ardal North West leaders Rhyl 1879 can stretch their advantage at the summit to nine points with victory at Llangefni Town on Friday night.

Flint Mountain’s shock loss to Conwy Borough in midweek breathed new life into the Lilywhites’ title hopes.

Although Rhyl were walloped 4-1 at home by Llangefni recently, revenge is well within the capabilities of Gareth Thomas’ side.

Bethesda continued their strong finish to the campaign by drawing with high-riders St Asaph last weekend and they can claim three points at home to Saltney on Saturday.

St Asaph City can stay among the leading pack with a narrow verdict at Hawarden Rangers, while two sides on the rise, Llannefydd and Conwy Borough, should produce a great tussle.

Title hopefuls Llay Welfare are buzzing and should be too strong for Pwllheli at The Ring, while Nantlle Vale can rebound positively from their midweek reverse at Holyhead by seeing off Llanrwst at Maes Dulyn.

While Brickfield were battered 6-1 at Holyhead Hotspur last Saturday, the Wrexham side should do better at basement boys Felinheli.

SCORECASTS

Llangefni Town 1 CPD Y Rhyl 1879 2

Bethesda Athletic 3 Saltney Town 1

Hawarden Rangers 2 St Asaph City 3

CPD Llannefydd 2 Conwy Borough 1

Llay Welfare 3 CPD Pwllheli 0

Nantlle Vale 2 Llanrwst United 0

CPD Y Felinheli 1 Brickfield Rangers 2
