JD CYMRU NORTH

All this weekend’s JD Cymru North fixtures take place on Easter Friday and the title could be all but won by close of play.

Three points for leaders Colwyn Bay at struggling Penrhyncoch will put the Seagulls in what must be considered an unassailable position at the summit.

Bay are three points ahead of second-place Holywell Town with two matches apiece left.

Even if Holywell win their last two and Colwyn just the one, Steve Evans’ side possess such a superior goal difference (+27) they have one hand firmly on the trophy already.

Friday sees Bay visit Penrhyncoch, whom they beat 3-0 last Saturday at the Four Crosses Construction Arena.

One can only foresee a repeat Colwyn success, especially with Penrhyn so much lower down the rankings.

Holywell will aim for a league record 26th straight Cymru North win when they welcome third-place Llandudno for their final home match of the season.

Although second-favourites for the title, Johnny Haseldin’s men have been on a phenomenal run and would take great satisfaction in beating Bay’s 25-0 record compiled this season.

Llandudno will be tricky opponents for the Wellmen, especially with a 10-game unbeaten streak themselves in the league, but Town should edge a narrow triumph.

Elsewhere, Buckley Town can make it a double over a Prestatyn Town side they beat 2-1 away last August, while Ruthin Town look a good call for a win at Cefn Druids.

In a bottom-three battle, already relegated Holyhead Hotspur can take at least a point at Conwy Borough. Chirk AAA, much more productive on their travels than at home this season, may well get the draw required for safety at Guilsfield.

With both sides sure to stay up, Gresford Athletic and Porthmadog could share a shackles-free, goal-packed encounter,. Expect a draw from Llanidloes Town versus Mold Alexandra.

SCORECASTS

Buckley Town 2 Prestatyn Town 1

Cefn Druids 1 Ruthin Town 3
Conwy Borough 2 Holyhead Hotspur 2

Gresford Athletic 3 Porthmadog 3
Guilsfield 1 Chirk AAA 1
Holywell Town 1 Llandudno 0
Llanidloes Town 1 Mold Alexandra 1
Penrhyncoch 1 Colwyn Bay 4

ARDAL NORTH LEAGUE CUP SEMI-FINALS

With a 15-match winning streak behind them, Denbigh Town can reach a second final of the season if they see off Builth Wells in an Ardal North League Cup semi at Central Park on Saturday.

Builth are a more than useful Ardal North East outfit, but they have struggled for consistency all season.

The same is certainly not true of Denbigh, who are chasing an Ardal North West title, FAW Trophy and League Cup treble.

Town are already in the FAW Trophy final and it is hard to back against them on Saturday.

The other semi between Llanrwst United and Llangefni Town is much harder to predict.

Both sides are mid-table in Ardal North West and their overall form has been average.

The pair have met just once in the league this term, Llangefni winning 2-1 at Cae Bob Parry back in August, but not too much can be read into that.

After a long run without a win, the Rwsters have picked up two victories on the bounce lately so that could stand them in good stead.

Overall, though, Cefni might just have the edge.

SCORECASTS

Denbigh Town 4 Builth Wells 1

Llanrwst United 1 Llangefni Town 2

LOCK STOCK ARDAL NORTH EAST LEAGUE

Caersws’ lead at the peak is down to six points, but they have a game in hand on nearest challenger Cefn Albion.

Nonetheless, the Bluebirds will not want a slip up when they travel to in-form Llanuwchllyn on Saturday.

Llan have won three in a row, including two 5-0’s, and at their best can take at least a point off the table-toppers.

Second-place Cefn Albion can keep the pressure on with a big win over bottom side Rhayader Town, while third-place Bow Street can stretch their impressive unbeaten run to 11 league matches when they host unpredictable Penycae.

Elsewhere, draws look the likeliest in the games between Dolgellau and Llangollen, plus Llandrindod Wells v Corwen, while improved Llanfair might just upset the apple cart with a narrow victory over up-and-down Rhos Aelwyd at Mount Field.

SCORECASTS

Bow Street 3 Penycae 0

Cefn Albion 4 Rhayader Town 0

Dolgellau AA 1 Llangollen Town 1

Llandrindod Wells 2 Corwen 2

Llanfair United 2 Rhos Aelwyd 1

Llanuwchllyn 1 Caersws 1

Bangor 1876 versus CPD Y Rhyl 1879 – the rematch!

The much-awaited return North Wales coast derby occurs at Nantporth Stadium this Saturday with an early 12.30 pm kick-off.

In a controversy-packed first-ever 1876 v 1879 meeting back in October, Bangor finished up 2-1 winners at Belle Vue.

Since then, Rhyl have been on a superb run, 44 points out of a possible 51 giving them a clear lead at the Ardal North West peak.

Bangor have remained in the title picture, currently sitting second, but their recent performances have been patchy. They have lost twice to major contenders Denbigh Town and suffered a shock home defeat to Llangefni Town.

Their last two wins, 3-2 at Flint Mountain and 5-4 over Saltney Town, were very close-run affairs.

Rhyl always seem to find a way to win, but on this occasion might have to settle for a draw. Bangor know a defeat will all but end their title dreams.

After last weekend’s demoralising 7-2 loss against previously winless Rhostyllen, Llandudno Albion may struggle again against a very impressive Flint Mountain.

Llay Welfare and Nantlle Vale, two sides which struggle for consistency but nonetheless are good quality outfits, may end up sharing the points, but it would be no surprise to see Rhostyllen, now they have broken their duck, edge past Felinheli at home.

SCORECASTS

Bangor 1876 1 CPD Y Rhyl 1879 1

Llandudno Albion 0 Flint Mountain 4

Llay Welfare 2 Nantlle Vale 2

Rhostyllen 2 CPD Y Felinheli 1
