CYMRU NORTH

Friday night kicks off the weekend programme with a real cracker as Ruthin Town host a Holywell Town side on a run of 10 straight league wins.

This could be a major test for the Wellmen, with Ruthin coming off the back of a tremendous 1-0 victory at Llandudno last Saturday.

The Vale of Clwyd side are seventh in the table and more than capable of upsetting any team in the league on their day.

Third-place Holywell’s form has been magnificent, but this perfect run has to end sometime and if Ruthin are on song they can at least hold Johnny Haseldin’s men to a draw.

SCORECAST

Ruthin Town22Holywell Town

Saturday sees unbeaten leaders Colwyn Bay travel to Welsh Cup heroes Gresford Athletic.

Although third from bottom, the Colliers have performed marvels to reach the last 16 of the national knockout.

This is one of those games which might just produce a shock, although the Bay are performing so well in the league, it is hard to bet against them.

Without a win in seven league games, and not having scored in their last four, Holyhead Hotspur have a real task on their hands when they welcome second-place Llandudno.

Tudno did lose at home to Ruthin last weekend, but Sean Eardley’s side had won their previous five on the bounce.

Like Gresford v Colwyn Bay, there is just a hint of a potential upset at the New Stadium, with Holyhead having often troubled Llandudno in the past, but the form book suggests an away victory.

Mold Alexandra host a Buckley Town outfit on an upsurge in form, whereas Alex have been struggling of late.

Anything can happen in local derbies and this could be Mold’s time to hit back from recent disappointments.

Llanidloes Town should take the spoils at bottom team Penrhyncoch, while Porthmadog versus Guilsfield has the makings of a draw.

Prestatyn Town possess more than enough quality to get the better of Conwy Borough at Bastion Gardens.

Cefn Druids are another team very much heading in the right direction and they can edge a narrow win at Chirk AAA.

ARDAL NORTH WEST

A truly epic clash is on the cards on Friday night when Denbigh Town host CPD Y Rhyl 1879 at Central Park.

A win for Rhyl would put them top of the table, Gareth Thomas’ side currently trailing leaders Bangor 1876 by a point having played the same amount of games.

It will be a hard ask, though, with 1879 decimated by injuries and suspensions.

Last weekend, Rhyl were 3-1 up on Brickfield Rangers and set to hit the summit, only to be pegged back to 3-3.

They will really need to raise their game to beat a Denbigh outfit currently in seventh, but just seven points off the top having played less games than all the teams above them.

Town have not lost in the league since the opening day of the season and have major goals potential all round.

SCORECAST

Denbigh Town32CPD Y Rhyl 1879

Saturday will hopefully see the return of Bodedern Athletic, who have had to withdraw from a couple of away fixtures recently due to player shortages.

Boded are due to host next-to-bottom Llandudno Albion, themselves not in the best-of-sorts at present.

Buoyed by last weekend’s dramatic late win at Llanrwst, Flint Mountain will be favourites to see off bottom side Rhostyllen at the Essity Stadium.

Llangefni Town are much improved of late and they can claim at least a draw at Hawarden Rangers.

SCORECASTS

Bodedern Athletic11Llandudno Albion
Flint Mountain31Rhostyllen

ARDAL NORTH EAST

After losing three in a row and conceding six in each of their last two defeats, Llanfair United will be desperate to return to winning ways at home to Builth Wells.

The visitors are a useful outfit, though, and will believe they can get at least a point at Mount Field.

Rhos Aelwyd will be keen to stay among the leaders and must be fancied for maximum points at Llangollen Town.

Rhos delivered themselves the perfect tonic with last Saturday’s superb FAW Trophy win at RTB Ebbw Vale.

Corwen should do better at home to Welshpool Town than they managed when losing 7-0 against Caersws at the War Memorial Park last weekend.

We would still expect Welshpool to sneak the points, though.

Rhayader Town gave themselves a boost when beating Llanrhaeadr at Y Weirglodd last Saturday, but this weekend’s visitors Llanuwchllyn, who lie seventh, will be a much harder nut to crack. Away win.

Llandrindod Wells should be too strong for rock-bottom Rhayader.

SCORECASTS

Corwen12Welshpool Town
Llandrindod Wells20Llanrhaeadr
Llanfair United22Builth Wells
Llangollen Town13Rhos Aelwyd
Rhayader Town 03Llanuwchllyn
