PREVIEWS

LOCK STOCK ARDAL NORTH WEST

Like in horse racing, there is no such thing as a nailed-on certainty in football, but the odds will heavily favour Denbigh Town when they pursue the point which will make them Ardal North West champions this Saturday.

Town travel to Wrexham side Rhostyllen, who are certain to finish bottom barring a goal difference related miracle at The Rec.

Losers by 8-1 at Denbigh back in February, Rhostyllen did not manage a single win in their first 20 league games, but a 7-2 romp at Llandudno Albion sparked a four-match unbeaten run only ended in their last outing, a 5-2 reverse at Llangefni Town.

There is plenty of fight in the Wrexham outfit, having battled out 6-6 and 5-5 draws this season, and they would love to end the season on a high note, wrecking Denbigh’s title dream and thus ensuring Bangor 1876 finish up champions.

Denbigh are just a point behind 1876, who have finished their fixtures, so with their better goal difference the Vale of Clwyd side require just a draw to finish top of the tree.

Town have won 19 of their past 20 league matches and with the most lethal strike force in the division, will surely take the honours at The Rec.

Elsewhere in Ardal North West, Llangefni Town can pinch sixth spot if they are victorious at Saltney Town, who have had an up-and-down season.

The reverse fixture on Anglesey last November was a thriller, Cefni winning 4-3.

The Bordermen, who have taken seven points out of a possible last nine, are more than capable of revenge.

SCORECASTS

Rhostyllen 1 Denbigh Town 4

Saltney Town 2 Llangefni Town 3

LOCK STOCK ARDAL NORTH EAST

The focus will be on the battle for second place in Ardal North East on Saturday.

Both Cefn Albion and Bow Street have 57 points apiece, with a game each to play.

Albion’s better goal difference of +5 stands them in good stead to clinch an Ardal Northern play-off spot to tussle for promotion to the Cymru North.

Cefn travel to Dolgellau on Saturday, a team they whipped 5-0 at home in January.

Albion have not played since suffering a 2-1 loss at Llanfair United on April 28, but should be well fired up as they chase a win at The Marian which will all but secure them second.

Bow Street visit the enigmatic Llanfair United, who have risen to fifth after a series of improved results which followed a dire spell of 10 without a win between October and March.

Bow caned Llanfair 6-0 at home last November. Expect the return to be closer, but an away win still looks a decent shout.

Champions Caersws should edge past Llanuwchllyn, while home victories for Llandrindod Wells, Llangollen Town and Llanrhaeadr would be no surprise.

SCORECASTS

Caersws 3 Llanuwchllyn 1
Dolgellau Athletic 0 Cefn Albion 3
Llandrindod Wells 2 Rhos Aelwyd 1
Llanfair United 1 Bow Street 2
Llangollen Town 3 Builth Wells 2
Llanrhaeadr 2 Rhayader Town 0
